The ancient art of bonsai is a discipline of both horticulture and aesthetics. In the first part of this beginner series, participants explore the history and philosophy of bonsai while learning the basic technical skills of pruning and wiring. It is a lesson in patience and biological manipulation, as students begin to shape their own miniature trees. This workshop offers a foundational curriculum in a specialized field, teaching the fundamental principles that turn a young sapling into a “living masterpiece.”
