The Science Center of Iowa hosts a daylight observational session focused on our closest star. Using specialized solar telescopes, participants can safely view sunspots, solar flares, and the dynamic surface of the sun. It is a rigorous introduction to heliophysics and the impact of solar activity on our own planet. This “Solar Party” provides a unique opportunity to study astronomy during the day, making the complex science of the sun accessible and engaging for students and families alike.
