The historic city of Pella presents a comprehensive curriculum in Dutch-American heritage. The festival features Dutch dancing, traditional attire, and the world-famous parades that wind through streets lined with hundreds of thousands of tulips. It is a rigorous celebration of cultural preservation, offering lessons in history, horticulture, and community identity. From the ringing of the Klokkenspel to the savoring of a Pella bologna ring, the event provides an immersive look at the traditions that have shaped this unique Iowa settlement since 1847.
