Flower Pounding Art Class

This workshop explores the intersection of biology and craft through the technique of “flower pounding” or tataki zome. Participants learn to transfer the natural pigments of May blooms directly onto fabric or paper using physical force. It is a tactile lesson in plant chemistry and organic design, demonstrating how the colors found in nature can be captured and preserved. Each student will create a unique piece of botanical art, exploring the specific dyes and patterns inherent in the garden’s early-season foliage.
