Botany of Beer
5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
909 Robert D. Ray Dr, Des Moines, IA
For the adult student of science, this St. Patrick’s Day session explores the biological components of the brewing process. Participants will examine the various plants used to create beer—from hops and barley to more exotic botanicals—while sampling different brews from the Des Moines metro area. It is a technical look at how specific plant qualities are distilled into culinary products. The registration fee also includes a ticket for “Dome After Dark,” providing a full evening of horticultural and social education in the heart of the city.
