The vernal equinox brings a surge of biological activity to Iowa’s wetlands. At the Jester Park Nature Center, this program explores the life cycles and vocalizations of local amphibians. Participants will learn how to identify different frog and toad species by their unique spring calls. it is a foundational lesson in herpetology and environmental monitoring, emphasizing the vital role these “bio-indicators” play in the health of our local ecosystems. The session includes an indoor presentation followed by a twilight visit to a nearby wetland.
