Early literacy is combined with herpetology in the “Reading and Reptiles” program at Sleepy Hollow Sports Park. Led by Polk County Conservation, the session features a storytime followed by an encounter with a live reptile. It is an excellent way to engage young children’s curiosity while teaching them about the biological characteristics and conservation needs of scaly creatures. By grounding the narrative in a physical experience with a live animal, the program nurtures both the imagination and a respect for the biodiversity of the natural world.
